Amplifying Your Voice in Washington

The healthcare delivery system is evolving rapidly. New guidelines, regulations, and laws are changing the way that healthcare providers conduct nearly every aspect of their business. With health outcomes being at the forefront of public policy, it’s important to create an environment in which providers can best serve their patients.

To help our members navigate this regulatory environment and ensure that their concerns are properly addressed, the Innovatix Government Affairs program has continued to develop as an important value-added service, particularly for our long-term care pharmacy and infusion members. We keep members informed and advocate on their behalf, working closely with national advocacy organizations.

A Strong Advocate for Our Members

The Innovatix Government Affairs program has represented the interests of our members since 2008. Initially, our primary focus was to help members navigate the then-newly implemented Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Benefit. As the program has matured, we have broadened its scope to meet the needs of our more diverse membership.

The Government Affairs team combines the focus of a dedicated Director of Government Affairs, Shara Siegel, with subject matter experts and our D.C.-based advocacy firm, Dumbarton Group & Associates, as well as our public policy advisory firm, Alston & Bird, LLP, to monitor legislation from inception to implementation. Furthermore, our affiliation with Premier allows us to leverage additional resources and networks. Throughout the process, we work to ensure that our members are informed about regulatory and legislative developments that affect their business interests.

In addition to our own efforts, we coordinate with the Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA), the trade association that represents the healthcare group purchasing industry. We also work closely with national trade associations, including the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA), National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition (SCPC), American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP), and other groups that represent the needs of our membership.

Our Resources

Innovatix works to educate, engage, and empower our members through our Government Affairs program. Our resources, which are available in our member log-in section, include:

  • A monthly e-newsletter that keeps members abreast of regulatory and legislative developments
  • Email updates about pending policy and our Government Affairs activities
  • Action Alerts that call members to advocate on their own behalf
  • Comment letters to the CMS, FDA, and other government agencies about pending regulations that impact our members
  • Position papers on legislative and regulatory issues that advance member interests
  • Webinars on key policy issues and topics affecting our members
