Goal Statement (Pharmacists & Nurses)
The purpose of this activity is to provide the participant with the knowledge needed to manage patients with heart failure.
- Compare and contrast heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) to heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
- Summarize the various categories of recommendations found in the ACC/AHA guideline for the management of heart failure.
- Describe the place in therapy for 2 newly approved drugs for HFrEF.
- Identify drugs that may cause or exacerbate heart failure.
- Given a specific patient case scenario, develop and justify a therapeutic plan.
Goal Statement (Pharmacy Technicians)
The purpose of this activity is to provide the participant with the knowledge needed to assist pharmacists in managing patients with heart failure.
- Define heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
- List 2 new drugs that can be used to treat HFrEF.
- List non-antimicrobial options for patients with heart failure.

Pharmacy staff and nursing staff involved with the medical care of patients with heart failure.
